BUREAU OF FISHERIES AND AQUATIC RESOURCES

Fisheries Scholarship Program – Fisherfolk Educational Grant

This scholarship is offered to:

  1. Any high school graduate or 4th year graduating student (SY 2014-2015) who is a son or a daughter of a Registered Fisherfolk
  2. Not more than 20 years old
  3. For high school graduate applicants, he/ she must not be presently enrolled or have taken any units in any course and the general weighted average should not be lower than 80%
  4. Parent/s must be a Registered Fisherfolk
  5. Must be a resident of the municipality for at least four (4) years

Award

  1. A full scholarship grant for college studies leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Fisheries
  2. Free matriculation and other school fees
  3. Monthly stipend – Php 2,500.00
  4. Semestral book allowance – Php 2,000.00
  5. 5. Research/ Thesis/ Special Problem support – Php 3,000.00
  6. Graduation Support – Php 500.00

Application Requirements

  1. Authenticated copy of diploma
  2. Authenticated transcript of records (From 137)
  3. Authenticated copy of Report Card (Form 138)
  4. Authenticated copy of Birth Certificate
  5. Latest BIR Income Tax return of Parents
  6. Certificate of Residency by the Baranggay Chairman/Municipal Mayor
  7. Certification of Good Moral Character from the school head/principal
  8. Membership Certificate from the Fisherfolk Association
  9. One (1) recent 2×2 I.D. picture attached to the form.

Baccalaureate Scholarship for Industry Leaders

This scholarship is offered to outstanding students studying towards a degree for Bachelor of Science in Fisheries. 

 

  1. Any 4th year High School Student of the current year; not more than 20 years old; and students who belong to the TOP TEN of his/ her graduating class (Not Upper 10%), duly certified by the school head/ principal OR
  2. Any High School graduate, not more than 20 years old at the time of the examination; who has not earned any units in college; and who belongs to the TOP TEN of his/ her graduating class, duly certified by the school head/ principal
  3. Of good moral character as certified by the school head/principal

Award

  1. Free matriculation and other school fees
  2. Monthly stipend – Php 2,500.00
  3. Semestral book allowance – Php 2,000.00
  4. Research/ Thesis/ Special Problem support – Php 5,000.00
  5. Graduation Support – Php 500.00

Miscellaneous Information

For the school year 2020-2021, the deadline of entries was on 15 October 2019. Read this press release dated July 18 2019 for more details.

 

For the 2021-2022 school year, visit the Philippine Information News Agency  website regularly for news and updates around the second quarter of the year or thereabouts. 

CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY OF THE PHILIPPINES

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) holds free training for prospective aviation professionals. After completing the available programs, scholars will be offered employment and assigned in CAAP facilities nationwide. 

General requirements

  1. Natural-born Philippine citizen
  2. Single
  3. Not more than 26 years old as of the deadline for the submission of requirements
  4. Physically, mentally, and psychologically fit and of good moral character
  5. Has good command of the English language
  6. Has not been convicted on criminal or administrative case
  7. Has not be dishonorably separated from Government or private service

 

Depending on the program you’re planing to join, there may be additional requirements, including the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree, studying under a specific degree for a number of years, no color-blindness, etc. 

Programs

  1. Airfield Lighting and Power Technician Course – Information an application form for the March 6 2020 deadline
  2. Communication Navigation Surveillance System Officers’ Course – Information and application form for the January 10, 2020 deadline
  3. Comprehensive Air Traffic Service Course – Information and application form for the December 20, 2019 deadline

Award

Those who will pass the exams will be eligible to take the course for free. Once the candidate successfully completes the course, they will be employed by CAAP and assigned in one of the CAAP facilities nationwide.

 

The award does not include allowances, accommodation, and other miscellaneous expenses.

  3. Parents/guardians must have a combined income of not more than Php 300,000
  4. Must only have 1 CHED assistance or scholarship program

Documentary Requirements

  • Any one of the the following:
    • Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of the parents or guardian
    • Certificate of Tax Exemption from the BIR
    • Certificate of Indigency from their Baranggay
    • Case Study from the DSWD
    • Affidavit of no Income
  • Children of OFWs and seafarers, the latest copy of contract or proof of income may be considered
  • Certificate of good moral character from the last school attended

For incoming freshmen:

Fourth year high school – third year grades and first three grading periods of fourth year

For high school graduates – fourth year Form 138

For applicants with earned units in college – certificate of grades in all subjects in completed semesters

For other applicants:

ALS – Accreditation and Equivalency Test Passer Certificate
PEPT – Certificate of Advancing to the Next Level

Award

Scholars will receive the assistance until the completion of the program provided that all rules and requirements set by CHED are met. 

 

  1. Full scholars will receive Php 30,000 annually.
  2. Partial scholars will receive Php 15,000

CHED’s work calendar states that calls for submission of applications are made in January-February every year. 

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE

Youth in Agriculture and Fisheries Program

A scholarship program for  the children of smallholder farmers. The program supports studies in agriculture and fisheries. 

General Requirements

  1. He/She must be a son/daughter of a bonafide small-scale farmer/fisherfolk;
  2. With parents/guardians having a gross annual income of not more than Php 120,000.00;
  3. Not more than 30 years old at the time of application to the program;
  4. The applicant must not have been a delinquent scholar of a previous scholarship.  A delinquent scholar is one who already enjoyed a scholarship but was unable to complete the program with no justifiable reason;
  5. He/She must be willing to apply in the field of specialization that conforms with the DA-ATI priority agriculture-related commodity/discipline; and
  6. He/She must have passed the entrance/qualifying examination prescribed by the university/college where he/she intends to enroll.

Documentary Requirements

  1. Certification from ATI Regional Training Center that the applicant is a bonafide son/daughter of a small-scale farmer/fisherfolk;
  2. Latest BIR-Income Tax Return of parents/guardians or tax exemption certification from the barangay captain;
  3. Authenticated copy of birth certificate;
  4. Certification of good moral character from high school Principal;
  5. Certification of good health from a government physician with x-ray result taken within the last two months;
  6. Proof of Admission from the University/College;
  7. Personal Data Sheet with one (1)  2” x 2” colored picture; and
  8. Copy of Diploma and Form 137.

Award

  1. Matriculation and other school fees (actual and as assessed by the school/university not exceeding Twenty Five Thousand Pesos (Php 25,000) per semester;
  2. Books/school supplies Allowance of Php 3,000.00 per year;
  3. Monthly stipend of Php 3,000per month;
  4. Research allowance of Php 9,000 to be given in full during the conduct of the research;
  5. Transportation allowance of Php 2,500 per month;
  6. Graduation fees (as assessed by the school/university) not exceeding P3,000.00;
  7. One-time relocation allowance of Php 10,000 to be granted to scholars who have to study outside their region; and
  8. Reimbursable one time round trip (economy) fare to and from place of residence to be given at the start and end of the scholarship period.

DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (DOST)

The DOST has an entire portal dedicated to those who wish to apply for scholarship programs,  which are available for both undergraduate and graduate students. 

 

Visit the DOST Science and Education Institute for information. 

 

The site is very user friendly and easy to navigate. It even has a free test reviewer that you can donwlonad. 

GOVERNMENT SECURITY INSURANCE SYSTEM (GSIS)

GSIS Scholarship Program

If you are a child or dependent of  a permanent government employee, you are eligible to apply for a GSIS scholarship slot. If your parent:

 

  • Has a Salary Grade of 24 or below (or its equivalent job level),
  • Have at least three years in government service, and
  • Have paid premiums in the last six months
 

You can receive one of the 400 scholarship slots. 

 

Additionally, members who are classified as permanent total disability (PTD) pensioners and aged 60 years old and below are also eligible to nominate their children for the scholarship program.

General Requirements

Nominees must be:

 

  1. Incoming freshmen who have been accepted in any four- or five-year course or in priority courses in CHED-recognized schools with its own charter or
  2. A school qualified by the CHED as Levels IV and III, Autonomous or Deregulated.

Documentary Requirements

  1. Accomplished Scholarship Form
  2. Certificate of Employment
  3. Certification from the school that the scholar is accepted as incoming freshman during the current academic year
  4. Birth certificate
  5. GSIS print out of the Business Partner (BP) number (coordinate with GSIS officer)

Award

GSP scholars are entitled to the following benefits:

 

  1. Actual cost of tuition and miscellaneous fees not to exceed P40,000 per academic year and
  2. A monthly allowance of Php3,000.
  3. Monetary incentives in the amount of Php20,000, Php30,000, and Php50,000 also await scholars who will graduate with Latin honors cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude, respectively

  1. It makes me sad how there are but a few companies and government agencies offering scholarships for nursing students. Have we still not realized how vital it is to fund nursing education? It is very unfortunate. Nevertheless, thank you for the information Katie!

  2. Hello! Do you know if there was a 2020-2021 GSIS Scholarship? Because I’m trying to look in their website but the last time they had a scholarship was for 2019-2020.
